AMANDA’S BIOGRAPHY
Amanda has been teaching at Darlo Drama since 2011. Amanda has a warm, enthusiastic and energetic teaching style. She delights in watching her students grow in confidence, presence and skills leading to their final performance.
After completing a BA (Performance Studies) at the University of Sydney, Amanda trained at Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art and The Actors Centre in London. She has also studied intensively with Patsy Rodenberg (Voice and Shakespeare), Scott Williams (Meisner Technique), Philippe Gaulier (Physical Theatre/Clowning) and singing with Elena Doria (Metropolitan Opera House, NYC).
Amanda has worked as an actor and singer over fifteen years in London, New York and Sydney and her work includes: On the Shore of the Wide World (Griffin), Four Places (Outhouse Theatre), Beautiful Thing (Burley Theatre, Seymour Centre), Macbeth & Taming of the Shrew (Sport for Jove), As You Like It(Shakespeare on the Green), Open for Inspection (Darlinghurst Theatre), The Weir (New Theatre), The Cunning Little Vixen (Sydney Chamber Opera, Carriageworks), Mummy’s Boy (Slide Cabaret), Crave (PACT) and At The Crossing Over (Pilgrim Theatre, Short Sweet and Song).
In London she appeared in The London Concert for Peace, Lysistrata, Brilliant Lies, Resonances of Passion, Die Fledermaus, Dark Of The Moon, Two Rooms & Independence and in New York, A Midsummer Night’s Dream & Macbeth, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, Miss Julie, Phaedra, When We Dead Awaken & The Malady Of Death.
Film credits include several short films, commercials, corporate films and the feature Operation Lysistrata.
Singing includes soloist in Vivaldi’s Gloria, and the original cast album of Morgan’s Run (Symphony of Australia).
Amanda is a proud member of MEAA, Equity and is a qualified voice and dialect coach having recently earned her MFA (Voice) at NIDA.
