SEAN’S BIOGRAPHY
Originally from London, Sean O’Riordan trained as an actor at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Cardiff, Wales. Beginning on the London stand up circuit he then acted in a number of touring theatre productions with a number of companies before arriving in Sydney. After touring work in Shakespeare and working on the stand up comedy circuit in Sydney he began teaching and directing and in 1996 formed his production company Barestage Theatre.
With Barestage Theatre he wrote, directed, produced and acted in Aliens R Human 2 and Housemates. His Shakespeare Detective production was taken up by the Sydney Theatre Company Education Unit and toured schools from 1998 – 1999. He also was the creative force behind MR TV and MIXD DRINX.
His next projects were Holiday in the Sun at Sidetrack and Godzone at the Tap Gallery. He directed Shadowmuse at the Cleveland St Theatreand and produced, wrote and directed Kitty and Fifi. His short play Pizza With Everything was included in the 2011 Short and Sweet short play festival. In 2012 his play MIXD DRINX was remounted at Old 505 Theatre. TV credits includes All Saints, Rake, Tough Nuts, The Kangaroo Gang, Crime Investigations Australia. He appeared in the films Candy, The Illustrated Family Doctor and The Man Who Sued God.
His influences are Steven Berkoff, Harold Pinter, Monty Python and The Office, Spike Milligan and Fawlty Towers.
For Darlo Drama he teaches level 2 and directs advanced Darlo students. His teaching style is open and friendly helping students to gain confidence until they are working to a high level of skill and expressivity. He likes to fill the class and rehearsal with fun, freedom, imagination and surprise.
